Mark Cuban has been around the game for a long time and he sees how it’s changing. It’s much more a shooter’s type league now and he thinks its time the league itself adapts. With that said, he feels the time is right to push back the three point line and judging by how many shots are flying from long range nowadays, he may be right!

Cuban doesn’t have an issue with players taking alot of long range shots, he just wants it to be more rewarding.
“It’s not long before the discussion will start—and I guess I should start it—about pushing back the three-point line,” Cuban said, per Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News. “Guys are shooting them from a foot behind it, anyway.”
The Rockets and Warriors let three pointers fly more than anyone else but ironically Cuban’s Mavs are sixth on the list in attempts per game. Too many guys who aren’t real shooters are believing they are just because they can hit the shot. Cuban thinks the distance being pushed back will change that.
“I don’t think the number of shots would decline. But I think it would reward skill, and at the same time, it opens up the court for more drives, more mid-range game,” Cuban said, per Sefko. “It would open it up so guys with different skill sets could play. Guys with mid-range games would be rewarded.”
Adding a degree of difficulty to long-range shots could diversify the game and showcase the other skills players possess beyond standing behind the three-point line.
“Right now, if you can’t shoot a three, you can’t shoot,” Cuban said, per Sefko.
Cuban is right in the sense that if they push the line back, only players who are truly shooters will be able to show off the skill while the wannabe’s will have to change up their game.
