As of yesterday it was being reported that Joe Johnson was likely to join the Miami Heat after clearing waivers today. There was some other teams like the Cavs & Raptors in the mix for his services but after 5pm today he made it official and is now a member of the Miami Heat!

The power in the eastern conference may have shifted somewhat today after the signing. The Heat are already at the very least a contender to the Cavs for the eastern crown and now with their own poor man’s Lebron in Johnson on the roster, he could very easily get his average up near 20 a game and make things very interesting in the playoffs.
Heat owner Micky Arison tweeted the good news a short time ago. D-Wade and the boys are ready to make a run at the NBA finals where it won’t matter who represents the East anyway because even with Johnson they aren’t beating the Warriors, Spurs or even OKC in a series.
Still for now, it gives Heat fans some hope at a long postseason run.
