Yesterday we heard about the tragic Kansas shooting that left many dead and injured. The man behind the gun was former Excel worker, Cedric Ford. New information shows Ford went on the killing spree moments after he received a restraining order from his girlfriend.
Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton says he has no idea how Ford was able to get his hands on any guns because he was a felon that had been to his jail on numerous occasions. Reports say a hour after Ford received the order, he never showed back up for work. A little bit after, they got reports on the first shooting.
The restraining order was because Ford assaulted his girlfriend. She released a statement saying,
“He placed me in a chokehold from behind … I couldn’t breathe.”
So now police are thinking maybe the shootings were a result of the order. Ford began his rampage at around 5pm. A man driving a truck got shot in the shoulder. He then continued to shoot at other drivers. Another got shot in the leg. He stole one of the vehicles and used it to return to the plant. Walton says that Ford was not targeting specific people, he was just shooting whoever. Four people died and 14 were wounded.
