In one of his most recent Twitter rants, Kanye West made it crystal clear that his latest project, ‘The Life of Pablo’ would only be available on TIDAL. He wrote to fans,
My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal.
However, that hasn’t stopped pirates from illegally downloading the album move than 500,000 times. Read more below.
According to BBC reports ‘The Life of Pablo’ has been pirated 500,000 times since its release. The album also shows up twice in The Pirates Bay’s ten most downloaded list. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has reportedly filed roughly twenty requests to take down any website on Google illegally hosting the album or any parts of it.
One source from Torrent Freak revealed these actions are just, “costly and increasingly pointless.” The source also stated he had never seen such illegal activity surrounding an album before, like Kanye’s. He said, “Generally we don’t track music releases closely, so I’m not calling any records,” he explained to BBC. “However, I haven’t seen numbers this high before for a music release – not with Adele either.”
This doesn’t seem like much of a surprise however due to TIDALS subscription fees. Have you downloaded ‘The Life of Pablo’ on TIDAL?
