Spencer Haywood had a hall of fame career in the NBA and made some decent money while he was at it. With all that said, he still regrets the biggest mistake of his life that cost him billions of dollars!
@IamJoeSports
Haywood was approached by Nike in the early days of the company to help promote the brand and get them up and running. He averaged almost 20 points and 10 rebounds for his career which ended in the early 80’s so his skills were serious and the swoosh thought he could help.
Nike may Haywood a very direct offer. He could either take 10% ownership in the company or take a check upfront for $100K. His agent advised him to take the cash, not knowing how Nike would do and it has become a day he still regrets as 10% of Nike right now is worth more than $8.6 BILLION dollars!! Safe to say Haywood still hates that agent.
Could you imagine knowing that everyday and knowing what you could have at your fingertips?
