Beer competes against wine and liquor right now for the “share of buzz” market. Recently, during the Beer Industry Summit in New Orleans, marijuana was the big topic of discussion. Analyst believe that beer will lose a part of their share in the “share of buzz” market due to states legalizing marijuana.
Marijuana is still very far behind beer, as marijuana sales for 2014 was $2.7 billion, as beer still sold $101 billion. Analysts do believe marijuana sales will be make around $19 billion in sales in 2019, and that is still with only a few states legalizing the drug.
