Jay Z released his Gold Jay Z cologne in 2013, but apparently he didn’t live up to his end of the deal with its distributor to promote it properly. Parlux Fragrances is now suing the music mogul over it.
In their suit, Parlux says Hov was supposed to make social media posts and promotional appearances – including GMA, a Macy’s in-store and in Women’s Wear Daily – but he declined. They also say there was supposed to be a line of follow-up fragrances that Jay helped develop, but he “dodged meetings,” so they never happened.
Instead of making the projected $50 million over 2 years from the colognes like they’d thought, Parlux is losing money, and stores are returning unsold inventory. They are asking for $18 million in damages.
