A 71 year-old woman was slashed in the face with a razor on a downtown 6 train Monday (January 25th) morning. According to police the unprovoked attack occurred around 7AM, before the train reached the Soho station. The victim, Carmen Rivera was sitting across from the man when he slashed her with the razor, leaving a four inch gash across her left cheek. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

The suspect who is not in police custody at this time, has been described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic 18-year-old man, wearing a red sweater and black sneakers.He fled the scene on a northbound D train. Police are reviewing surveillance footage for any possible leads.
This attack is just one of many slashing incidents which have occurred in NYC over the past several weeks.
