Back in September, Laura Govan leaked a long email giving explosive details about the father of her children, Gilbert Arenas.  Among the details, the email alleged that Arenas slept with Laura’s family members, kicked her and their children out of the house they shared, that he beat up Draya Michele and that he gave Laura STDs.  Apparently out of the all the allegations, Arenas was most upset about the STDs claim and filed a lawsuit against Govan for defamation.  Well Govan responded to the suit and her defense is, it’s not defamation because she’s telling the truth and he did give her STDs!

“The complaint, and each cause of action therein, is barred, in whole or in part, because and any all of the statements complained are true or substantially true,” Govan wrote in court papers obtained by BOSSIP.

Govan said her actions weren’t defamatory, and Arenas’ suit should be tossed because she was expressing her opinions about their time together. Govan also said the suit violates her free speech and her comments were made without any malice.

Arenas reputation hasn’t suffered after Govan’s bombshell revelations, and if it was, the damage was caused by others outside of their relationship, she said in the court papers.

Govan asked that the court to dismiss Arenas’ lawsuit and his claim for punitive damages.
