Ray Rice says he’s still training in the hopes of signing with a team before the 2016 season.
Rice touched down at LAX Sunday and told TMZ Sports he’s still training and staying ready in the hopes he gets a chance to prove he belongs in the NFL.
“Honestly, I’m never going to give up. You don’t want to give up something you started. You want to finish the right way.”
TMZ claims they spoke with several NFL sources — who don’t have any connection to Ray — and were told he’s getting “real interest” from teams interested in the running back.
I highly doubt he’ll sign a contract. NFL by no means has any sense of morality, they’ll sign you to a contract even if you killed your wife (no pun intended), BUT you have to be amazing on the field. Rice’s last season with the Ravens was not good, he hasn’t played in a while and he’s an aging running back. That RB position is the worst in terms of longevity.
In the meantime, Rice says he’s in L.A. to mentor college players for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl but says he’s making sure to work in some gym sessions in his spare time.
