Congratulations are in order for Wiz Khalifa who took home the ‘Best Song’ award at the 21st annual Critics’ Choice Awards, for his song “See You Again” ft. Charlie Puth. The hit record served as a tribute to the late Paul Walker and was featured on the Furious 7 soundtrack.
More below.
The win comes just days after being subbed by the Oscars who chose to not to nominate the song despite it’s success. “See You Again” was the first hip-hop video to rack up one billion YouTube views and broke the Spotify record for most streams in a single day.
“See You Again” beat out “Love Me Like You Do” (Fifty Shades of Grey), “Til It Happens to You” (The Hunting Ground), “One Kind of Love” (Love & Mercy), “Writing’s on the Wall” (Spectre), and “Simple Song #3” (Youth). The win was annouced via Twitter as it was not featured in the regular telecast.
Congratulations, Wiz!
