Patriots defensive lineman Chandler Jones was rushed to Norwood Hospital Sunday morning after he showed up at Foxboro police department with a medical emergency. Details on the situation were initially unclear but more information is beginning to leak out.
Sources have told WEEI’s Chris Curtis the reason Jones was taken in an ambulance to Norwood Hospital early Sunday morning was at least partially due to a use of pills. Sources told WEEI’s Lou Merloni that Chandler walked into police station parking lot all jammed up shirtless and shoeless asking for help from police.
In the call, medics are called to the front lobby of the police station to respond to a “confused party.” While Jones was attended to, an officer was sent to secure the defensive lineman’s home. Once at Jones’ home, the officer can be heard telling the dispatcher, “I got his keys off the kitchen table, I was able to lock the front door. If you want to just pass along to the fire, he was definitely involved with class D delta (drugs) before this happened, just so they know.”(For a list of class D substances, defined by Massachusetts law, click here.)
Jones was at practice on Monday and Tuesday. Depending on what he ingested will determine whether or not he faces punishment.
The Patriots said in a statement, “Chandler Jones was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and released that day. He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then.”
