The Washington Redskins lost to the Green Bay Packers 35-18 on Sunday during the NFC Wild Card game, eliminating them from the playoffs. On Monday, the Redskins returned to clean out their lockers including quarterback Robert Griffin III, who is reportedly cleaning out his Redskins locker for the last time.
Cameras were rolling as Griffin III emptied an array of shoes, jerseys, workout clothes, photos and superhero action figures into a large cardboard box. He declined (smartly) to make a statement or answer any questions but he did leave two items including a telling letter in his locker.
The Redskins are expected to release Griffin this offseason after demoting the former Heisman winner, whom they made the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, to their No. 3 quarterback and making him inactive for all but one game of the 2015 season.
Griffin will draw interest from teams who remember his rookie season where he won offensive rookie of the year honors. His resume was later tainted by injuries and disagreements with the coaching staff. A report said there’s mutual interest between RG3 and the Dallas Cowboys.
