It’s been six months since his fateful escape. According to Mexican officials, the Mexican drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman has been captured.

Back in October, 57-year-old kingpin was close to being caught due to a monkey on his back, but close was not good enough until now. El Chapo has been captured by way of a shootout in the Mexican city of Los Mochis. The home where the shootout took place was full of weapons, including a “rocket-propelled grenade launcher,” according to TMZ; which has been confiscated by authorities.

Enrique Pena Nieto, the President of Mexico tweeted about the arrest:

“Mission accomplished. We have him. I want to inform the Mexicans Joaquin Guzman Loera [El Chapo] has been arrested.”

Seven prison employees were arrested following El Chapo’s escape that was caught on film. After visibility in his cell became unclear, it took workers 18 minutes to check in on him.

In addition, the tape had two blind spots one for showering and use of the toilet for privacy. El Chapo was able to squeeze into a hole under the shower in his cell and escape through a mile long tunnel. He can be seen twice on surveillance going into the shower fully clothed and bending behind the wall. The second time he went into the shower he did not return.
