It was reported that quarterback Johnny Manziel wants to be cut by the Cleveland Browns and join the Dallas Cowboys; well he’s not the only one. Quarterback Robert Griffin III also wants to join the Cowboys if he’s cut by the Washington Redskins.
Griffin was replaced by Kirk Cousins during the preseason and hasn’t appeared in a single game for the Redskins since. The team won the NFC East and will face the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs. They are obviously happy with Cousins and are reportedly ready to give him a long term contract which means they’re basically done with Griffin whom they’d taken with No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 draft.
Chris Robinson of Yahoo Sports sources have said Griffin has Dallas “atop [his] preferred destinations,” and that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would be interested in signing the 25-year-old quarterback. In 2014, Jones told the NFL Network he was “a fan of RG3.”
Like Manziel, Griffin is also a Texas guy as he was the quarterback for Baylor University and Johnny the quarterback for Texas A&M.
Cowboys backup quarterback Kellen Moore is under contract for more season and Tony Romo has been battling a collarbone injury. Both Manziel and Griffin are expected to become available during the offseason and Jones has shown a liking to them both. This will definitely be something to keep an eye on.
