LSU’s Ben Simmons has been making major waves in college ball and is projected to be the No.1 overall draft pick. Simmons is averaging 20.1 ppg, 12.9 rpg and 5.2 apg; some people however have criticized his big numbers citing that he hasn’t played real competition. Well Tuesday night was a major test for the Freshman as his LSU Tigers faced the Kentucky Wildcats.
Simmons had a quiet first half picking up two early fouls but he turned it up for the second half. He scored 12 of his 14 points after halftime including six straight points in the final minutes to help clinch the Tigers’ 85-67 win over the Wildcats.
His second-half scoring began by finishing a half-court alley-oop pass from Tim Quarterman.
He also put the cherry on top with this late putback dunk.
He ultimately finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. He posted a photo on his Instagram account of one his dunks and trolled Drake with the caption. Drake is a huge Kentucky Wildcats fan and says “I rock Kentucky Blue on these hoes” on his and Future’s song “Scholarships” on What a Time to Be Alive. Simmons remixed the lyric with his win over Kentucky.
