“Every time I see a trailer, or an ad, for that movie,” Uncle Luke said, “all I can think is I want that motherfucker George Lucas to give me my money back.” Their beef dates back to 1990 when Lucas sued Uncle Luke for over $300 million for using his stage name at the time ‘Luke Skyywalker.’

According to Lucas the association of the name with the explicit music that Uncle Luke was known for making with 2 Live Crew would compromise the brand and image of Star Wars and the character.

Uncle Luke, who modeled his moniker after his nickname “Luke” and “Skywalker” from New York Knicks basketball player Kenny “Sky” Walker said, “My name is Luke Skyywalker and I’m rapping about how I want some pussy,” adding, “How can anyone say that is infringing on a character in a movie that doesn’t feature any Rap music?”

The two were able to settle out of court for $300,000 and the rapper was forced to drop the stage name. However he’s still not having any part of it. He said, “I respect the fact that people love the movie,” he continued “George Lucas made a helluva movie and a brand. People love it. But he took nearly a half a million dollars from me.”
