If one is trying to be safe and responsible by not drinking and driving, Uber is usually the best bet. Unfortunately for a Canadian man, Uber did him SUPER dirty.

A man who goes by the name of Matthew Lindsay was partying it up on New Year’s Eve at a wedding in Edmonton, Canada when he and a few friend decided to Uber it back home to be safe. What was only a 60-minute ride turned into quite the hefty bill.

When he was dropped off at his destination, Lindsay realized that his Uber receipt from the trip was a whooping $1,141.71.

A 60 minute ride for a thousand dollars,” he said. “I could fly across the world for this price. Instead, I went from one end of the city to another.”

He continued on to say, “They just haven’t acknowledged the fact that this is an unfathomable price. It’s a ridiculous, outrageous price.”

The fair would have originally been approximately $125 but due to the surging prices, everything was multiplied by 8.9. Those are put into effect when Uber requests are busier than usual.
