Hard work and dedication have garnered Jimmy Butler with a max contract and the status of the new star of the Chicago Bulls. Butler continues to show why he’s important to the team with two major plays Wednesday night during the Bulls 102-100 win over the Indiana Pacers.
On the last play, Butler was supposed to take the final shot but was guarded off the inbound pass. Instead, the ball went to Pau Gasol. Butler cut along the baseline, then tipped in Gasol’s one-handed lob pass over Paul George, putting the Bulls up 102-100 with 1.2 seconds left.
Butler then got on defense and once again was up against Paul George. Butler blocked George’s shot at the buzzer to give the Bulls the win.
Pacers coach Frank Vogel can be seen going crazy after the play. He along with many others thought George was fouled by Butler.
Vogel tried to be diplomatic about the final play. “I’ll address it with the league,” he said.
“It shouldn’t have gotten to that point,” George said. “We were up seven and pretty much in control before we got to OT. We let this one get away.”
