Against his wishes, the San Diego Charges placed Eric Weddle on injured reserve Monday with a groin issue, ending his season and likely his nine-year career with the team. Weddle’s agent David Canter took to this Twitter account and aired out Weddle’s mistreatment by the Chargers.
According to Canter the Chargers have multiple players that can’t play and the team hasn’t placed them on injured reserve but did put Weddle on IR. Canter also says the Chargers told Weddle that he can’t travel to Denver with the team for the season finale against the Broncos because the “plane is too small”. Canter then revealed that the Chargers fined Weddle $10,000 during week 15 because he didn’t leave the field during halftime and wanted to watch his daughter perform. Canter says how the Chargers has treated them is “beyond reproach”.

Team spokesperson Bill Johnston said the Chargers have 17 players on injured reserve, so room for all of them could be an issue. Johnston also said that in the past, players on injured reserve who requested to travel had not been turned down.
“We have a policy here,” Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said. “And a situation took place two weeks ago in our stadium. So yes, we did fine him.”
Canter said he plans to file a grievance with the NFL Players Association on Weddle’s behalf.
“If you do bad things to good people, you deserve to have your dirty laundry aired in the limelight,” Canter told The Associated Press. “Eric’s done nothing but give nine years to the Chargers organization — his heart, his soul, his body.”
