Back in June Laura Jacques and Richard Remde lost they’re beloved dog Dylan to cancer. Dylan who was just eight years old had been sick after the couple found out that he had a brain tumor. After losing Dylan the couple was heart broken and decided to reach out to a organization that clones dogs called Sooam Biotech Research Foundation.
The couple payed around $100,000 to have their dog cloned and just yesterday their new pup Chance was born. According to The Gaurdian the couple will be united with their cloned dog in just a few days.
Laura Jacques told the Guardian
“The whole thing just feels surreal,”
adding,
“I lost all sense of time. I have no idea how long everything took, the whole thing made me feel very disoriented. I was just clinging on to Richard for about an hour and a half after Chance was born.”
The Sooam Biotech Research Foundation has cloned a total of 700 dogs for commercial use, and this is the only company of its kind.
David Kim, a Soam scientist told The Guardian
“This is the first case we have had where cells have been taken from a dead dog after a very long time, hopefully it will allow us to extend the time after death that we can take cells for cloning.”
So, it looks like the future is with us!
Would you clone your dead dog if you could? Leave a comment and let us know.
