New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has lost his appeal and his one-game suspension has been upheld. Beckham will not be able to return to the Giants facilities until Monday and will miss their game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Beckham was suspended because of his actions towards Josh Norman during the Giants loss to the Carolina Panthers. Beckham delivered a deliberate helmet-to-helmet blow to Norman during the game.
Defendants of Beckham said he was threatened with a bat by Panthers practice team member Marcus Ball. It was also said that homophobic slurs were launched at Beckham which is what caused his erratic behavior.
This is a major blow to the Giants losing their star wide receiver as they fight to win the NFC East and make it to the playoffs. They’re currently tied with the Philadelphia Eagles at 6-8 while the Washington Redskins lead the division at 7-7. In order to make it to the playoffs they would have to beat the Vikings, the Eagles would have to beat Redskins for week 16, for week 17 the Giants would have to beat the Eagles and the Cowboys would have to beat the Redskins. Pretty much it’s a tall order.
Beckham posted a message to his Twitter account after losing his appeal.
