Christina Milian has decided to open about a secret from her past that she has been keeping. On the Tuesday night episode of “Christina Milian Turned Up,” Milian went to talk about an abusive relationship she was in at the age of 18.
While talking to HuffPost blogger, Tanya Williams, Milian re-lives the horrible relationship she encountered as a teen.
“So I was 17, going into 18, and I met a boy and he had this sarcasm about him that I just thought was super funny,but that sarcasm turned out to be something a little bit more dark, and I had no idea what I was getting myself into.”
Milian started to talk about an experience that could have cost her her life. She said,
“I’ve been holding on to this for too long. I lived in fear for a long time. I’m here to save someone. I really want to help other people, especially the youth.”
Her ex boyfriend turned out to be a jealous one. He became manipulative and wanted to control her every move. He then resorted to physical violence. She talked about how he use to hit her, kick her, and choke her. She said there were times where she would wake up to this man kicking and stomping her. Milian then went on to say that her ex-boyfriend even put a loaded gun to her head.
“He literally put a bullet in the gun and pointed it at my face. Staring down the barrel of a gun is the scariest thing you could ever experience. It’s not funny, it’s not for the movies. There’s a chance of life or death in one click, that’s it.”
Milian one day grew the courage to leave the relationship before it was too late. Her mother helped her catch a flight and move to a new location. Christian Milian wants to leave a message for all young girls. She says no woman should have to go through this but the choice is up to them.
“There are a lot of girls going through this. It happens way more often than we think. This is your choice to live or die.”
