After great success but not being able to work out a deal with the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles signing DeMarco Murray was hailed as one of the big acquisitions of the offseason. Unfortunately things have not been working out well for Murray in his new home. After struggling for much of the season, Murray was demoted. Murray was reportedly so upset about his lack of playing time and confusion as to how he fits into Chip Kelly’s offense that he had a lengthy conversation with Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.
“He’s obviously upset about what happened,” a source close to Murray said.
He has rushed for 569 yards on 163 carries and four touchdowns this season, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry.
In addition, Ryan Mathews could return after missing the past three games with a concussion. His availability could further reduce Murray’s role.
The Eagles had a big win over the Patriots on Sunday and are in a three-way tie with the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, fighting to win the NFC East and make it to the playoffs. Murray reportedly said he does not want to be a distraction but going over the head coach and complaining to the owner isn’t exactly how you keep things lowkey.
