This past summer South Carolina voted to pull down the confederate flag at the South Carolina Statehouse. It’s crazy that it took until 2015 for it to come down but that’s another story for a different time. Perhaps it was because of the nine innocent people that were killed in June by a white supremacist? With that being said do you think it would be smart for any South Carolina legislator or anyone for that matter to hand out Holiday cards featuring the Confederate flag? Nope I don’t think so. A South Carolina lawmaker has sent out a Christmas card featuring a photo of the Confederate flag that refers to “memories of a happier time” and suggests those who voted to remove the flag from in front of the Statehouse ask God for forgiveness for their “betrayal.” Rep. Chris Corley said Thursday that he sent the cards to his Republican colleagues as a joke. He says he sent another card with a photo of his children to others.
The card displays a photo of the flag when it still flew in front of the Statehouse. Lawmakers voted in July to remove the banner in response to the fatal shooting of nine black parishioners in a Charleston church. The suspect in the shooting was seen in photos posing with the Confederate flag.
So Chris Corley can you please make a statement about what the joke was…..I think I missed it or I just don’t have a sick sense of humor like you do. What do you guys think?
