And the winner is…Jim Irsay!
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has a one of a kind collectible to hang above his mantle for the holidays – one of Ringo Starr’s drum kits and he bought it for $2.2 million.
Irsay copped the legendary drum kit from Julien’s Auctions, Friday in Beverly Hills, California. The two-day auction is concluding on Saturday and is set to feature over 800 items owned by Ringo Starr and his wife, actress Barbara Bach.
The drum kit is a 1963 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl three-piece and was used in over 200 performances between May 1963 and February 1964. The drum kit was also used to help create The Beatles’ songs “Can’t Buy Me Love”, ”She Loves You”, ”All My Loving”, and “I Want to Hold Your Hand”.
Once the auction is fully over, part of the proceeds will be put towards the couple’s Lotus Children Foundation, which focuses on global social welfare issues.
