So, two men were denied entry in a small Egyptian nightclub called “El Sayad”, in the late hours Thursday entering Friday morning, and decided to react by lighting up the club/restaurant. Police are currently on the hunt looking for the unidentified men throughout the Agouza district.
El Sayad is not an official “club”, but more or less a restaurant during the day with a bar, and than in the after hours is turned into a nightclub of sorts. Although alcohol is legal in Egypt, most of the restaurants/clubs do not have liquor licenses.
The Ministry of Interior issued a Facebook post that cited unnamed official with its Security Information Center, who stated a preliminary investigation found the attack was initiated when the two perps had a dispute with the restaurant/club staff, which wound up in the men lighting up molotov cocktails and launching them at the building killing 16 and injuring 3 in total.
