There are some folks out there, including myself, that believe the Lakers should retire both numbers Kobe Bryant wore during his career. He accomplished many things wearing his original #8 jersey but he also enhanced his hall of fame resume while wearing #24. He won three rings with his old number but won two more, plus an MVP award wearing his father’s old number of 24. Shaq was alongside Kobe during the “8” days and he does not believe both numbers should be retired, he thinks only his original jersey should be retired.

Shaq is somewhat biased because he wants Kobe to retire the number that he wore while they were dominating the league together but the Lakers really should do the right thing and send both numbers up to the rafters.
