A judge set the Van Dyke’s bail at $1.5 million after reviewing the dash-cam footage that shows the now former cop shooting McDonald 16 times. Prosecutors argued that the man with a horrible criminal history of his own be held without bail, while his attorney, Daniel Herbert, argued that his client was no flight risk; the latter got their wish. Van Dyke shoved up $150,000 to be released.
McDonald was said to be carrying a knife, which was folded in his hand (still doesn’t explain 16 shots). An autopsy reports explains that the 17-year-old had PCP in his system at the time of the shooting, so we will see where this goes from here.
