LeBron James has always been a player with a lot of hype around him, though he’s never been one to brag or flex on other players.
Last night, it seems the “king” had enough as he subbed himself out of the game and caused the Cavaliers to be charged with a technical foul.
King James decided to take a seat on the throne during last night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Cavaliers were up by almost 30 points in the third quarter, when James was working the post and teammate, Jared Cunningham threw the ball out of bounds in attempt to reach James.
James walked off of the court and sat on the Cavs’ bench, signaling for another player to be subbed in. The Cavaliers, not expecting the sudden outburst, couldn’t get another player on the court fast enough, which essentially left four Cavs to play defense.
Once officials realized that only four Cavs were on the court, whistles were blown and it resulted in a Cleveland technical.
Cleveland head coach, David Blatt wasn’t too upset about the self-sub, saying that he understood why it happened.
“Well, he was frustrated. He knew we weren’t playing right. And (he) thought we were playing hockey. A hockey sub.
But he was frustrated. I understand his frustration, but obviously, you shouldn’t do that.”
James admitted that he totally lost his cool during post-game interviews, saying,
“I blew a gasket. You know what that mean? I apologized to my teammates for it.”
The Cavaliers ended up winning the game, with a rather close score of 109-97.
