On tonight’s episode of Oprah’s Master Class The Rock will discuss his battle with depression. He offers advice to anyone battling depression by saying
“You just have to remember: Hold on to that fundamental quality of faith. Have faith that on the other side of your pain is something good.”
Depression is a mental illness that many people deal with on a day to day basis. Most people who are battling depression don’t seek help because they don’t know that they are depressed or they are to embarrassed to come forward and admit that they are depressed because of the fear of being labeled.
“I found that with depression one of the most important things you can realize is that you’re not alone. You’re not the first to go through it. You’re not going to be the last to go through it, and often times it happens. You feel like you’re alone. You feel like it’s only you, and you’re in your bubble, and I wish I had someone at that time who could just pull me aside and say, ‘Hey, it’s going to be OK.'”
Said The Rock in a trailer for his episode of Master Class. For The Rock, being cut by the Calgary Stampede football team was hard on him. He spent a month and a half battling depression before the team contacted him and asked him to return. The Rock said that his gut feeling told him that there was something else out there for him. So going against his father’s advice, he got into wrestling and from there it was history.
The Rock’s episode of Oprah’s Master Class airs tonight at 8pm EST.
