Jada Pinkett-Smith has been booked as executive producer and leading lady in the upcoming ABC pilot Murder Town. The television drama, written by Barry Schindel [Castle], has been called on a put pilot commitment, which means if it’s not good enough for a series commitment, the network will have to dish out a massive amount of cash.

Deadline describes the crime drama as follows:
Murder Town centers on a beautiful and complicated prosecutor (Pinkett Smith) who makes history as Wilmington, Delaware’s, first African American District Attorney. She finds herself confronted by old loyalties and loves, a shocking revelation about her murdered husband and a polarizing, racially-charged case that threatens to burn her and her city to the ground.
