We recently learned about the murder of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee, who was killed near his grandma’s house in Chicago. Jada Pinkett took to social media to express her sympathy for the young boy. Cops are pretty much at a standstill in this investigation and are now offering a reward to anyone who has any information.
Gary McCarthy, who works for the Chicago Police says that he believes Lee was shot as retaliation due to his father gang involvement.
“We believe that this is the most recent in a series of gang-related violent events. We believe Tyshawn’s father [Pierre Stokes] has ties to a gang that is in conflict with another gang.”
Lee’s father is upset about this statement as he feels like the cops need to focus more on finding his sons killer. He says,
“Y’all are more worried about me. Worry about the person who killed my son.”
Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church is urging anyone who knows anything to come out and release information. Of course its hard because people are scared, but this young boy deserves justice. Pfleger says,
“Come stay in my house until we relocate you, you can stay here, whatever it takes, But please do not allow this murderer to walk around.”
Pam Bosely, who lost her son in 2006, backed Pfleger up saying,
“[People] have to go home. They have families. They’re trying to save their children. I get both sides, but my concern is if you don’t talk, the person that shot…is going to shoot again.”
Police and the community are now offering $54,000 and guaranteed relocation and safety to anyone who has information. Hopefully justice for Tyshawn Lee will be here soon.
