On Saturday, we covered a story that talked about Greg Hardy’s return to the Dallas Cowboys after being suspended for 10 games while dealing with a domestic violence case. Hardy was not convicted for the incident, as he and his then-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, allegedly settled outside of court.
During the time of the investigation and his paid time away from the NFL, Hardy made multiple jokes and even a music video in regards to his legal issues. Now, Hardy is trying to back pedal, and quickly.
We’ve seen a couple of crazy incidents involving professional football players over the last two years, but Greg Hardy’s has definitely sparked the most questions.
In the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson situations, both parties were very cooperative and expressed constant remorse for their actions. Hardy hasn’t exactly taken the same route, and now that his suspension is up and he is looking to hit the field against the Buccaneers, Hardy has taken to Twitter to express his own remorse.
Hardy’s constant attempts to dance around the topic and the creation of a taunting music video, proves that Hardy never took the situation seriously. Even after the charges were dropped, he told reporters that he would hit the field with “guns blazing.”
Pretty terrible wording by someone who was accused of throwing his girlfriend on a bed of firearms.
Hardy tweeted,
“Just had to say I express my regret 4 what happened in past and I’m Dedicated to being the best person & teammate that I can be.”
He went on to say,
“but mostly I am Grateful 4 the opportunity to play in NFL #GodBlessHookyStreet”
Not for nothing, but the NFL is a business. After the Cowboys front office saw how the world reacted to them backing Hardy, I’m positive that this was just a way to fix the optics and make fans believe that he is really sorry.
Guess we’ll see how the rest of the season pans out for Hardy and the Dallas team, who face the Eagles tonight 8:30 P.M..
