Hillary Clinton released a statement on her thoughts about the Eric Garner case.
Eric Garner was killed by police after being choked for illegally selling loose cigarettes.
Clinton says that Garner did not deserve that. She released a statement saying,
“I still can’t get over that Eric Garner, in Staten Island in New York, he died from a chokehold. He was selling loose cigarettes. Was it illegal? Sure. Did he need to die? No.”
Clinton has been trying her best to stay on top of addressing situations such as this one and also the situation with mass incarcerations. Clinton believes that the justice system needs to be repaired which she is 100% right about. But the question is how? What can we do as citizens to assure that our people will receive justice. What will the people in office do to assure us that we will be protected and receive justice when needed?
Eric Garner was only 43 when he died. Still much life left to live. The justice system that was designed to protect us left the Garner family with one less loved one. New York City payed $5.9 million dollars to the Garner Family to avoid a wrongful death lawsuit.
