For whatever reason, New York sports teams love to give us fans multiple panic attacks before actually winning the playoff game or season in question. Right on cue, the New York Mets had done the same, after losing the first two games in the World Series against the Kansas City Royals.
Most fans thought it was a wrap, as it is way harder for baseball players to come back from a 2-0 start in a 7-game series. Last night, the Mets showed otherwise as they defeated the Royals in Game 3 at Citi Field.
On Friday night, the New York Mets stole their first win against the KC Royals in their first home game of the World Series. The Mets looked great in the first game, enduring more than 5 hours on and off the field. The game was close and both teams went point for point until KC finally scored and ended the game in the 14th inning.
The second game was not as pretty and fans began to question how much longer they would enjoy this World Series experience. Generally, if a baseball team is down 2-0 in the series, there’s not much coming back from that. The Mets didn’t want to hear that.
The teams traveled to New York and the Mets set Citi Field on FIRE! By the top of the 5th, the Mets were already up 5-3 (which, for all you non-baseball fans, is a very high scoring game). In the end, the Mets would win the game, 9-3.
The Mets definitely pulled a stunt that may have just saved their chances at winning the World Series title.
The Mets will face the Royals at Citi Field, tonight at 8 p.m. on Fox.
