101 passengers en route to Caracas expected nice treat vacations when they arrived in Venezuela. However, their plane never even took off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International. This Dynamic Airways flight apparently just had its 30th birthday. The engine caught fire before takeoff, with the passengers trapped on the plane. Hit the jump to find out how they escaped.

Passengers say their midday flight did not even announce the fire. They smelled it before they saw it. Next, they saw it and moved towards the door. One passenger Daniela Margo said, “We didn’t have an announcement. We just saw the fire and people started freaking out, and we just left the airplane.”

“Many of them were injured just from going down the ramp,” Dr. Julie Phillips. Both passengers and airline employees got injured.

The airport closed down the entire runway to address the fire. International and national flights will probably see delays since Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood is an international airport. The plane is expected to be removed from the runway tonight.

The TSA will send four officials to investigate.
