After a fatal car accident that claimed the life of his friend and nearly left him brain dead, Tracy Morgan has fully recovered and is making his return throughout the comedy scene. This weekend he hosted Saturday Night Live (SNL) where was greeted with applause and cheers as he declared that he is back and “better than ever.”

Just one year after facing life threatening brain injuries due to a car crash, Tracy Morgan is returning to his root starting with hosting Saturday Night Live. The crowd roared with applause as he performed his monologue and declared that he is back!

Tracy Morgan’s SNL return featured his 30 Rock cast members Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Krakowski.

This is Morgan’s first time on a SNL stage since the June 2014 accident that critically injured him and claimed the life of his friend and fellow comedian James “Uncle Jimmy Mack” McNair. The accident happened when a Walmart truck slammed into Morgan’s Mercedes Benz limo van as a result of truck driver’s fatigue; the driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel after driving for 28 consecutive hours. Walmart settled with Morgan after he filed a civil lawsuit against them; he later thanked them for “stepping up” after the crash that left him in a coma.
