She might be a tad bit late but even Rihanna is realizing that racism is very much so alive and real.
The 27-year-old pop star recently had a sit-down with Miranda July for an interview with T: The New York Times Style Magazine.
“You know, when I started to experience the difference — or even have my race be highlighted — it was mostly when I would do business deals,” she explained during the interview while speaking on coming to America from her native country of Barbados.
“And, you know, that never ends, by the way. It’s still a thing,” she said. “And it’s the thing that makes me want to prove people wrong. It almost excites me; I know what they’re expecting and I can’t wait to show them that I’m here to exceed those expectations.”
Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality of the world that we live in.
