If the bad news for Bobby Shmurda during his pre-trial stages are any indications as to what will go down during the actual trial, he may not see the light of day for a long time. After reporting to court on Monday, the Shmoney Dance creator hears that he has been denied bail for almost the fifth time.

Since his arrest – along with some GS9 partners in crime – in December 2014, Bobby, real name Ackquille Pollard, has tried to wait out his trial date on the outside of prison bars. Back in February, the 21-year-old’s attorney announced that his client’s bail was revoked, and that they were taking the proper steps to make sure he gets another day in court for a reversal on the $2 million.

“We’re trying to do a new bond application and are in the process of figuring that out,” he said. “We’re hoping to get it done within the next week.”

Here we are eights months down the line, with a new attorney, Alex Spiro of Brafman & Associates, for the rapper, and Judge James Burke does not want to hear anything on a Bobby Shmurda release.

Burke revealed a new trial date for February 22. however, Spiro objected due to the far-off date; he requested a new bail be set. In comes Special Narcotics Prosecutor Nigel Farinha who argued that there had been at least four bail application that were denied; the fact that Shmurda has connections to Florida; and net worth of half a million dollars.

With all this on the table, Burke denied the bail request.

Shameful. Bobby has too much potential as an artist – EXAMPLE: “3 Shots” (My S**t) – to be sitting in prison. Let’s hope this is a lesson learned for the Brooklyn boy.
