Oh man, he came out of this one unscathed – kinda. Tom Hanks’ son, Chet Hanks (also known as Chet Haze, the rapper), got plenty of backlash after he tried to be the voice of reason for he and other White individuals’ to be able to use the n-word. Months laters, Chet says that it was never his place to make the argument; he blames his outcry on his cocaine addition as well as the pressures of being Tom Hanks’ son.

In his video apology on the n-word, Chet says, “It’s not my place to speak on it and I’m genuinely sorry for the people that I offended.” He continues on to say that he’s been absent from the world because of a stint in rehab. “I’ve been in a rehab,” he admits. “I’m tryna get my shit together and I’m doing pretty damn good.” Chet adds that he was doing coke so much that his nose got clogged. He was so bad that he smoked crack. Now, in his ‘don’t do drugs’ campaign, he says that anyone can change.
