Oh yes, Fetty Wap has had a helluva year, and there are no signs of slowing down in sight. From record breaking success to being the a young child’s inspiration, the 25-year-old continues to happily transition from hood celebrity to a mainstream man.
During a sit down with Rolling Out, Fetty opens the difference from his block trap in New Jersey to his new trap; the stage.
“People envision the trap as somewhere to chill. Some people have a vision that you have to be in the trap if you want to be a rapper,” he says. “But my trap now is me performing in front of thousands of people. That’s my new trap. My old trap was standing on the block and it wasn’t a place where you wanted to be. It’s real life for people who don’t have other choices because of the decisions that they made for themselves. It’s not an excuse, but for some people, that’s all they know.”

In addition to his ‘trap’ talk, Fetty talks his upcoming album debut album, Fetty Wap. Previously, he revealed that there will be no BIG-named features. Now, he opens up about the type of music we can expect. Simply put, BANGERS.
“I think this album has a lot of good music on it,” Fetty said. “There is a lot of turn up music. I just like to have fun and I’m not giving people too many sob stories. This is one of those albums where you don’t have to press next on. I want it to have a big impact. In five years, I want people to look back and say that ‘Trap Queen’ was good music, but it wasn’t made by a one-hit wonder. I feel like I’ve done a good job as a new artist by having four songs in the top 10. It feels good to be in a category all by yourself.”
