Dressed in stripes and shackles, Mitchell answered the questions that everyone wanted to ask. Throughout the interview, she explains how initially, the inmates would ask for treats like cookies and brownies. Soon the favors came rolling in and Mitchell found herself “in too deep.”

Mitchell was very emotional as Lauer reminded her of the details from the escape. According to her, the situation started out as harmless flirting. She claims that Matt, who she strangely refers to as “Mr. Matt,” forced her to perform sexual acts for him. Matt and Sweat allegedly threatened to kill Mitchell’s husband and furthermore, had information on the whereabouts of her mother and son.

Mitchell who is a mother of three said she was only trying to save her family. One has to wonder if that detail is a ploy to get mothers around the world on her side.

When asked exactly how she helped the prisoners, she explains how she brought them a star-shaped drill bit, a chisel, and hacksaw blades. She was also instructed to bring a shot-gun to their tunnel.

Matt and Sweat ran free for three weeks before a Border Patrol agent shot Matt dead. Sweat was caught and found injured only two days later.

The full 2-hour interview will air tonight (9/18) at nine o’clock on NBC.
