Things went left after a few teens were play fighting this week in a Far Rockaway apartment that ended in a death. Wilta “Taya” Wordsworth was only 15 years old and was shot and killed in her own home by her alleged friend.

The teenagers were home during school hours after Taya had permission from her mother to stay home. Already in a school altercation her mother thought it would be best for her to stay home from school to avoid a fight. Taya’s friend, whom stood over her house the night before was with her when they invited over two of their other male friends to hang out. The kids began to play fight and wrestle when one of the boys took out a loaded gun and shot Taya in the head. It has not been clear if the boy was her boyfriend or just a friend.

The boy immediately said it was an accident and that he did not mean to shoot her in the head. Although the mother and others can vouch that all of the kids were in fact friends and it very well could have been an accidental shot there is no excuse as to why he had a gun in the first place. The two 15 year old boys are being charged with the death of Wilta Wordsworth.
