Justin Bieber and Travi$ Scott have become fast friends. Although musically they may seem incompatible, Bieber is featured on Scott’s latest project, Rodeo and was present at the opening shows for the album to help Scott perform their song “Maria I’m Drunk.” In a recent interview, Travi$ Scott reveals just how this collaboration came out.

“A kid like me next to a kid like Bieber, who is popular as fuck… people would think, ‘How did you get on a track with Bieber?'”, Scott admitted in hindsight. He revealed that it was actually The Biebz who reached out to him looking to work together. Scott said, he knew right away that “Maria I’m Drunk” was the right song for them to do together. The track was already leaked at that point but Scott said he felt adding Bieber and putting on the Rodeo album would make it fresh.
Scott said, after he sent Bieber the track,”he called me the next day like ‘Yo, come up to the studio,'” he continued, “As soon as I got to the studio he played it for me. He already had [his rap verse on it] done. That shit was fucking crazy. I went back in and produced over it. That shit’s so pure!”
Although they seem like an unlikely pair, Travi$ Scott is super proud of the work he’s done with Justin Bieber and he’s even been inspired by him. One of his favorite Bieber tracks is “All That Matters” which served as he inspiration for Scott’s track “Drugs You Should Try It.” He said, “I’m a Bieber fan, man! That kid is ill! The ‘Runaway’ remix that he did with Kanye when I was in high school was fucking amazing!”
He also hopes that their collaboration on “Maria I’m Drunk” will open people’s minds to Bieber being more than just a pop star. He said, “That dude is fucking talented!” He continued, “Just cause he does theses certain songs, this n—a has history of doing hip-hop songs! His voice is a sample in its own.”
