One thing we always look forward to with Floyd Mayweather fights is which major celebrity will walk him to the ring. He’s used his friends Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber, and during his last fight he used (and got paid handsomely) to walk with the Burger King. So who will walk with him during his fight against Andre Berto this Saturday? The answer is the NFL’s first female coach Jen Welter.
Mayweather had already contacted Welter’s people and offered her a pair of ringside seats to the bout, claiming he’s a big fan. Welter accepted.
Now, Welter’s rep tells TMZ Sports the relationship has continued to blossom, with Mayweather asking Welter to walk with his entourage on his way into the ring on Sept. 12th.
According to TMZ, Welter — who was an intern with the Arizona Cardinals — is excited and considers the whole thing an honor.
Of course there are people who are upset about the whole thing and “disappointed” in Welter’s support of Mayweather. The “NFL’s first female coach” who has talked about domestic violence solutions for the NFL is supporting and walking with someone who’s been accused of and convicted of committing domestic violence. Jen addressed the naysayers on her Twitter account and expressed her thoughts on the matter.
