The father of cancer fighter, Leah Still, has just been released by the Bengals right before the official start of the 2015-16 season. Still was just awarded the Jimmy V. Perseverance trophy at this year’s ESPY’s and he took to Instagram to respond after being cut.

The Cincinnati Bengals definitely did right by Devon Still and his family. He and his daughter, Leah, caught national attention after she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and he was forced to travel with her for treatment. The Bengals did not cut him as an act of kindness after he would often miss team meetings, some practices, and games. Still was able to retain his insurance and ultimately was able to afford Leah’s treatment.

Ironically, the kindness is still being extended even after Still departs from the Bengals. According to reports, Still is covered for another five years and despite being cut, that has to make him feel great since medical expenses can be steep. Still took to Instagram to express his gratitude toward the Cincinnati organization, “Have nothing but love for the Bengals and the city of Cincinnati. Both helped me through one of the darkest times of my life and I am forever grateful. It’s time to move forward and see what’s next.” Many teams are making changes to their rosters so, it there is a chance that he will get picked up.
