Drake decided to join in on Lil Wayne and the Hot Boys reunion at Lil’ Weezyana Fest last night in New Orleans. TIDAL exclusively streamed the legendary event, but experienced some technical difficulties when Drake hit the stage with Wayne. Apparently, Apple wasn’t happy the OVO chief went against their wishes by performing, not one, but three songs at the TIDAL event. Find out what happened after the jump!
TIDAL claims that Apple is to blame for the petty interference during Drake’s performance at Lil Weezyana Fest last night. Soon after Drake stepped out on stage with Lil Wayne, TIDAL’s live-stream went black leaving subscribers blind to Drizzy’s performance. TIDAL took to Twitter to address the black out, and they were understandably blunt.
“Apple is interfering with artistry and will not allow this artist to stream. Sorry for Big Brother’s inconvenience.”
Not long before the show, TIDAL was threatened with a hefty lawsuit from Apple if Drake made an on-stage appearance. According to Page Six, Apple wasn’t excited about Drake, who recently signed a $19 million dollar exclusive deal, being apart of TIDAL’s event, which raised funds for the young survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
“Legal letters have been sent to Tidal warning that Drake cannot appear on the Tidal stream of the festival, either solo or part of a group, and if the warning was ignored, the liabilities could be up to $20 million,” a source revealed to PageSix.
Since Drake spent some time on stage performing “HYFR,” “My Way,” and “Back To Back,” we can only assume that a lawsuit is inevitable. While we keep our eyes out for updates, check out footage from the wildly entertaining Hot Boys reunion below. S/o to Nigel D for the dope footage.
