There are 10,000 individuals in the city of Ferguson celebrating like there is no tomorrow. After being appointed in June, Judge Donald McCullin decides to vacate all arrest warrants issued prior to 2015.

The canceling of warrants does not mean that the individual’s problems go away. They will be issued new court dates where they can be given the chance to handle things in a less severe manner. Fines could be cancelled and suspended drivers licenses may be restored.
“These changes should continue the process of restoring confidence in the Court, alleviating fears of the consequences of appearing in Court, and giving many residents a fresh start,” said Judge McCullin.
Five months back, the US Justice Department released a report on the city’s court system and community policing of Blacks, according to rollingout. The report claimed that Blacks with minor offenses were given fines that went well beyond the scope of minor, which led to warrants and arrests; this being the reasoning for Judge McCullin’s actions.
