Everyone who saw Straight Outta Compton as well as die-hard N.W.A fans everywhere know that Ice Cube had a problem with their manager Jerry Heller. Since Eazy-E and Heller’s business relationship grew stronger, the CEO of Ruthless Records made some unfortunate decisions that led Ice Cube to ultimately leave the group. Two decades later, one Ruthless MC in particular, Big Hutch a.k.a Cold 187um, says that E should have picked Ice Cube over Heller. Find out what he said after the jump!
Cold 187um says Eric “Eazy-E” Wright should have chosen his friend Ice Cube over N.W.A’s manager Jerry Heller. The California MC was signed to Ruthless Records along with the rap collective Above The Law. During his interview with Vlad TV, the veteran rapper rehashed on the time when Ice Cube officially left N.W.A and the label.
“N.W.A, they didn’t miss a beat by him leaving,” Cold 187um said. “But they did felt like it was like, ‘Aw, you just said fuck us and left.'”
Cold also revealed that Ice Cube had a different vision N.W.A. He remembered that there were several rumors floating around as to why Cube left. However, Cold knew that the main reason Cube left was because of his disgruntled relationship with Heller. Apparently, Eazy was more loyal to Heller than he was to his home team.
“Don’t forfeit the team for one player and a GM at that,” he says. “It’s like you’re at the team, you’re at the point where your franchise is a winning franchise and if everyone’s having a problem with the GM and the GM’s the problem, you need to let him go.”
Cold blamed a majority of Cube and Heller’s problems on financial problems. Today, the Above The Law alum has nothing against Heller. Watch the interview in full below.
